Re: Back to the Classroom?

I'm interested in your thoughts about what, if any, effect this ongoing war
in Europe may have.

Thanks

the Balkans have not been the cause of 2 worldwars this century, colliding
superpowers drawing a line in the balkans have. Now there is only one
superpower...Russia won't pass up the IMF bucks..so no bigger war is likely.I
dont understand why people say "those people have been enemies for centuries,
these are old disputes". tha can be said of Germany, japan, ireland.. every
country has such conflicts... and the balkans have had no more of these kinds
of battles in their history than England and scotland have in theirs. Most
of the last 800 years in balkans has been peaceful..at least as much as
england. So what happened now?
The same as everywhere else. When the economy goes bad, people turn on each
other. Why did the economy go bad? because after the communists were driven
out, the IMF offered money and "expertise" if they organized along lines we
dictated. the advice was bad. this is why the wall street journal refers to
the IMF as the greatest threat to civilization today. Their 40 year history
is war and economic ruin wherever they go to help. Check me on this, but
look at their records..where they "helped" and where the wars followed. We
still fund them.
In essence, we ruined the yugoslav economy with our bribes and advice, they
turned on each other, and now we are bombing them. Americans wonder why
moslem extremists target us. If you ask, they tell you why.
I dont advocate isolationism, quite the contrary. But I do advocate we stop
aiding the rest of the world. Giving free eyeglasses to guatemalan kids
ruins the business for a impoverished amateur opthamologist who could
otherwise buy used glasses from usa and start trading them for chickens in
villages in guatemala. It sounds harsh, but not as harsh as bombs falling on
people who took our advice.
