Re: Recommended Reading

Jess,

did you try www.fritz.com?

the customs broker is usually the one to direct you to appropriate fed
agencies...have you contacted a customsbroker?

Re: Recommended Reading

Thanks for all the updates. I am still looking for the place to get RN
number for imported clothing. Please broadcast my question to all your other
students. Someone out there may know the right Federal Agency that handles
this. Also, please recommend to me other Customs brokers that are supportive
of small businesses. Thanks
Jess

Folks,

I was just listening to Marvin Gaye's "got to give it up" and recalling a
book I read, "Where Did Our Love Go?, The Story of Motown." Now for those of
you overseas, Motown is Detroit, the home of just about every black singing
artist we enjoy, or at least it was a magnet on the road to success for each.

As I listened to Gaye's song, I marvel at the small things done to greatly
improve each song...in this instance how a small feminine voice comes in at
the end with the refrain "got to give it up..." Esquisito!

The book shows how talented and untalented people worked together to build a
business and markets against huge odds, and dare say is another independent
example of what I say is the way to go.

Further, I have taken some criticism for insisting that we spend no money on
fancy letterhead and "image" items starting up..and finally I have an analogy
of my point:

In Seattle in 1976 a Frenchman opened le tastevin in a abandoned shoe repair
shop....his food brought corwds, including me, although the restaurant was
new and certainly nothing special to look at. But the food was excellent.

Within a decade he had a specially designed restaurant with a bay view,
linen, fresh flowers, french waitstaff and valet parking.

You've all had this experience, visiting a restaurant with a great reputation
but no "image," except what they put on the plate. Well that is my
analogy...serve up satisfactory fare first, and later you can doll up your
externals.

My import/export service trading education worldwide grows apace, but I see
my old competitors doing what I was doing in glass five years finally copying
me now... As soon as I get this internet thing in other hands, I cannot wait
to get back into drinking glasses and another area...classic games (chess,
checkers, mancala) produced in dichroic glass. You've all seen it, it is the
glass behind the light in your dentist's office..it is also used in spy
satellites...but it is now cheap and plentiful material...

So many opportunities, so little time...

John
