Let's say that I talked to a sales person in Nordstrom about a design of
a women's handbag and the sales person shows interest but they don't
carry similar design. So I ask if I can talk to the buyer about the
handbag and the sales person or anyone there is reluctant to give out
the name of the buyer. What should I do then?

***It doesn't matter if they are reluctant to give it out, you simply need to
know if the item is already available... you can get that without knowing a
name... but worry less about whether the process works, and more about
getting it going... then you will know from experience...***

When you were working with Nordstrom or any other potential stores, did
you come across this problem? Is this a common problem? If so, how do
you handle it?

***Never a problem, buyers are often enough on the floor anyway in such
stores...***

Are fashion clothing and handbags harder to sell to buyers than gifts
and houseware items? >>

***Selling is ALWAYS easy, if you've done the HARD work of coming up with the
right product... you cannot do the hard work of coming up with the right
product unless you love what you are doing... so to answer your question,
which product area do you love...? As a side note, we don't use salesd reps
because selling is hard, but becasue developing our products is more
important, and so we leave selling to outside experts and devote our time to
what is fun, profitable, interesting, fast etc.***
