Re: Distribution

Re: [spiers] Re: Distribution

<< Hi John,

I took your course at College of Marin a couple of years ago and have

since developed a new product accessory for umbrella strollers.

I remember you had your product shipped to a distribution warehouse.

What would be the benefit of this verses using a Distributor?

***Well, farming out warehousing to a public warehouse gets you tax savings,
shipping cost savings, professional service for your customers in the
distribution end, while all the while keeping control of your product.

When you say "verses using a Distributor" I assume you mean importing and
selling to a jobber or distributor. In such cases, you lose control of the
"marketing" on e of the two areas you provide a value (the other being
design).***

How could I find a listing of warehouses?

***The Sparks (Reno) chamber of commerce has a listing for you.***

***Now hang on, I am always delighted to see what people's effort has
wrought, but I am always shy that they may want my opinion. Now, we all
agree my opinion is utterly worthless, and the ONLY opinion that matters is
that of the customers to whom you expect to sell the product. So before you
show this to me, assure me your customers have seen it, and tell me what they
say. In this way, I can agree with your customers opinion, and at the same
time I can know my opinion is right.***
