<< Dear John,
I am having a hard time coming up with a product for import. However, I
had an idea for export.
I used to own a company called Tea & Herb. Co. (I guess I still
own it). We had a sparkling beverage, a clear
sparkling beverage flavored with mint, lemon, and thyme. I have a
proprietary method of keeping the oils always in solution, even after three
years in the bottle, by the way, the product is good in everyway after 3
years in the bottle, but losses carbonation.
We were distributed in "Whole Foods " in the greater Bay Area,(SF) "Wild
Oats" and several large coop stores. We were being distributed by Mountain
People's Warehouse but---
The taste was wrong for the U.S. Market for the most part.
My question is: I would like to sell the product to the Turkish market
where it might be more widley accepted. How can I do this without getting
totally ripped off??

Sincerely, DISMO

Where do you anticipate getting totally ripped off?

In my mind, you find the best importer distributor of beverages in Turkey,
and sell on a letter of credit basis.

I am a big believer in exporting and leaving it at that... that is to say,
make the stuff and sell it to a Turkish importer... let the Turkish importer
worry about what might happen that would constitute in your mind "getting
totally ripped off." I am guessing you are afraid someone will steal your
idea... ? If it is that easy to steal, I suppose they will... but I am
speculating, you tell me where you expect to get ripped off.
