Accounting Software

Re: [spiers] Accounting Software

Web-based, no, but I have used MYOB for 15 years mainly because it is
so simple, and one does not need to understand accounting to use it...
it comes in PC and Mac versions... MYOB.com.

Can anyone recommend a web based accounting software. I am doing
research trying
to find a product and would like to go with something that others have
experience with and would recommend.

Thanks.

Re: Possible Problem...?

I asked if she
had anything like it as if I were a customer
(actually, I am a frequent customer of the store).

Well, she was very excited about it and made copies of
the picture. She said she wanted to show the owner.
Then, she said, "We need to look into having this
made."

***See how badly they want "new"?***

Problems/Questions:
1) Did I make a mistake by letting the manager copy
the picture? I'm thinking I gave the design away.

***You have rather established she copied it from you. She has copies,
you have original, ergo...***

Why didn't I just describe it or something!? :( The
manager thinks I'm the customer, not someone who could
import the tile.

***So far so good.***

2) I really didn't design anything either. I took an
existing hand painted glazed tile my wife and I picked
up in Itally while on vacation, and put a very simple,
weathered, rustic cedar frame around it. The tile
already exists. It is made in Itally. I'm not sure
if that will have an impact.

***Yes, I was doing that circa 1982 in San Francisco... and top ten
companies copied us... it's not even a particularly new idea..
***

3) What is stopping the store owner from contacting
someone with my design and having it made? I'm not
sure how to proceed.

***Two things...time and money. But instead of trying to block this,
better to ride it...encourage them to do so... bring in your source,
for both tiles and glass... as you work alongside them, they will, path
of least resistence, defer to you...let you "handle it"..."gee whiz,
isn't this fun...?" if and when the question of ownership or
compensation comes up, confidently recall that they copied your idea,
but no matter, there is nothing to keep everyone from making lots of
money. Establish the principle that they make money off what they
sell, you make money off what you sell. Percentages all around. Perhaps
give them a lower price on production runs... but get them to
co-develop the product and they will know 10 other stores who will take
it...from there you take it to 5000 other stores via these 10 stores
best reps...

And of course, what do you mean by "your design?" It's someone
elses... work with them seemingly gratis and come up with your own
north coast indian versions as soon as things get tense and greedy,
bringing relief to all and sundry. Let them run with italian ones if
they can.

Here is where we who were raised in USA are at a disadvantage...we can
hardly work on this basis, too loosey goosey. Well, the rest of the
world is moving on up nicely with this skill, we need to develop it to.
It works, it is just new to us.

PS, I know this is a far cry from Telescope mirror
glass. But I still want to pursue it.

***lemme see... silica and potash heated into a supercooled liquid to
form a lens which allows you to stare in the dead of night at...silica
and potash... dude, I think you got a thing for silica and potash!***
