Of course, I mean the term in its classical sense "no king, or no state." I do not mean the bomb-throwing version, because people who throw bombs do not object to the state they wish to overthrow, there merely wish to be the ones in charge. Castro is worse than Batista, the current president is worse than the last, and so on.
I grew up in Seattle, before global warming, when it seemed to snow more and deeper. The last mayor of Seattle declined to play the roads after some six inches of snow, and the city came to a halt (he did plow what roads served him to his hoes, etc.) He got the boot at the next election, and of course was immediately hired at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, to teach aspiring young govt type how it is done.
Back in the day, when snow hit, the snowplows sanders and salters were making roads passable. Today, nary a snowplow is to be seen. The reason is we are supposed to come to a standstill, and desire public transportation above all, especially 1880's technology, light rail. Never mind a free market would give us maglev, with locomotion 6 inches above the snow.
We got hit with about an inch and a half yesterday, and some people spent 12 hours trying to get 5 miles. The entire city was shut down, and very man for himself, devil take the hindmost. Callers to talkradio said no such thing ever happened in Detroit or Boston. 3 foot snowfalls were dealt with pre-emptorily. It had to be a city worker who called in and said those other cities were flat and Seattle has hills. Ahem... Boston is flat? Seattle did not once take care of snow? City workers did not grow up in Seattle, they do not know what natives know.
Social theorist John Rawls is one of the core teachers of the modern state, and he advocates starting from the original position, that is people from say the Harvard Kennedy School of Government will get together and form an original position from which we will renew the social contract, bringing justice to all.
Of course it is poppycock, foolish and pointless to think this way. Every disaster, Vietnam war, Katrina, even a snowstorm in Seattle puts us in an "original position" without having to await the convening of Harvard graduates. Never mind they would magically arrive at what we have anyway. Never mind that justice is a theological virtue, man cannot approximate justice. At best man can accomplish, with grace, mercy. Justice belongs solely to God.
Government does not make humans angles, the election process does not transform men into gods, but power does go to peoples heads.
For the last 24 hours, there has been no police or fire, or for that matter any appreciable government services. Yet people are kind and considerate, helpful, and crime almost nonexistent. What will people learn form this? Nothing. Those with eyes will see, and those with ears will hear.
Anarchy bring spontaneous order form chaos. It works. At least let's have panarchy. In any event, it is time to start a business, plowing roads in Seattle. See anarchy in action in Seattle, what happens when there is no government.

Hong Kong Innovation
Hong Kong desires to become a center of innovation... become? It already is! It is a recurring theme, the people of Hong Kong do not se to know what they have. Hong Kong is a world leader in just about every worthwhile metric, but they are constantly trying to "become" better at something. Maybe that is a key. USA is #1, at everything, peple say. I guess if you are #1, you job is not to become better, it is to keep everyone else in their place.

Innovator Makes Obvious Point
There is no reason for the TSA, it is ineffectual, a waste of money, and illegal. But let's assume for a second, in a free market, that an airline desired to have Peep-o-trons as a security device for their airliners. Dr. Bill Wattenberg four years ago suggested that the human images displayed by distorted by software that would only show contraband, not the human figure.
Doh! This is why we need free markets. The scanner can be designed to scan for anything, and they can be designed to output anything. So why not develop a scanner that looks for anything except human cells, and displays only what is not that... obviously we have scanners that can reach the human skin, just have it filter that before the output... The screener would see guns, liquids, shivs, powders and plastic, but nothing human. A screen viewer would see a gun at waste level, or a bottle of liquid strapped at ankle height, nothing more.
But the problem is fundamental: TSA work is pointless and boring. To make it interesting for the workers, like reality TV, it has to involve humiliation and rejection. When entering the TSA zone, you will be humiliated, or rejected. Those are you only options. (What? You do not find the presumption of guilt when they scan your bag and body with mere metal detectors humiliating? How quickly your given up your standards, like a good German!) Anything less would leave TSA workers bored to distraction. Harming others gives meaning to some people. So Chertoff sells peep-o-trons to the taxpayers, not weapons scanners.
The Republicans will blame this on Obama, and change nothing. Free markets give more options.

Al Gore Admits Ethanol Subsidies Bad Policies
Blacks starving in Africa, our automobile engines have had years corroded off them, billions ot taxpayers dollars wasted, farmland as good as paved over for the damage done, bankruptcy and corruption, something we all knew was inevitable, but finally Al Gore admits ethanol subsidies are bad policy. Watch, they subsidies will be renewed, so they can blame it on Obama. People need to understand: when Shell Oil advertises they are going green, your movement has lost, not won.

How We Won't Double Exports
The powers that be are hoping to save our economy by exporting, doubling exports in 5 years. In the White House video there is no explanation of how, exactly, they will do it. The video assures us doubling numbers is big. America has never taken a back seat to anyone else (what about the first 150 years?). All we need is a level playing field. Patriotic Americans can agree.
Oh.
What is so goofy about this is int'l trade is at most 20% of our economy. Um.. if you want to fix the economy, shouldn't you work on the 80% that is domestic? It is bad enough if we depend on foreignors for 20% of our goods and services... we want to go to 40%?
Anyway, nothing good can come from this. Just get your own oxygen mask on first, then assist others...
