patent issue

Re: [spiers] patent issue

You may find the following information helpful in your research. One site is a
manufacturer of the lens and the other is a list of patents they have in the US.
Hope this is of help.

i have a new idea that may have patent issues
involved.
i would like to use transition lenses (the glasses
that turn dark in bright light and vise versa.)
since the lenses themselves are new technology i don't
know if there is a patent protecting them. what route
should i take to find out if the lenses are available
for my use?

thank you

Re: [spiers] patent issue

I have a lot of experience with Transitions lenses. They are indeed very
well protected by patents. Transitions is a joint partnership with PPG and
Essilor. They actually make the photochromics and put them into lenses made
by most major lens manufacturers. So, they don't actually sell the lenses.
They would refer you to lens manufacturers to buy them. They are HQ in
Pinellas Park, FL. If you need more information, I can help you.
