I just received a nice catalog in the mail featuring office furniture. Good stuff at excellent prices. Anyone would be nuts to buy any.
When the dot.com boom busted, brand new office furniture was stacked up on the streets of San Francisco with signs that said "free office furniture." The dotcoms stopped paying their leases, got the boot, and the "owners" of the dotcoms took what furniture they wanted and left the rest. The second hand furniture people had so much they would not bother to pick it up themselves, even for free. Building owner just stacked the stuff on the streets and it dwindled away.
As these mortgage biz and banks and such go out of biz, there will be a glut of office furniture. Pay nothing for desks and chairs and file cabinets, etc.

In these tough economic times, maybe more people will try and get those free ones on the streets and refurbish them.
