One often hears the phrase "whatever it takes " in regards to building a business. The idea is to get the job done, one may have to compromise, get creative, or perhaps bend rules. Certainly it means one may have to draw on extraordinary resources to get the job done.
What if what is needed is actually some sort of personal transformation to "get the job done."
What if one finds that their expectations for success are not met with what they bring to the process, so instead of searching for compromises or rule bending, they instead find that an internal personal change is what is needed. I guess this is a form of "whatever it takes," but I suspect it is a rarely considered path
It is becoming clear to me that one of the most attractive parts of self-employment is personal transformation, but that is always the most part or life, let alone self-employment.

Compromise could mean a lot of things like leaving your spouse to get more time to plough into the business... breaking the law could mean stealing.
Surely if you lost your business and assets John you could just lean on your reputation to get something started.
Is it really wise to try to go from say, college, with a major in English lit. and no particular creative or artistic background to starting a glassware business? Or, from 5 years working in accounts in as a cog in a large business?
Sure the spark may hit you. AH! talking fridge magnets... that hasn't been done (if we rewind to... 1981?). It is likely to come through your experience, and you do say try to experience the problem, don't just think about problems that might be.
Anyway, whose and what question sparked this response?
