One agency that essentially encapsulates the violence of USA and "get big or get out" and "food as a weapon" is the ExImBank. There are many politicians grandstanding over getting rid of this unmitigated evil carbuncle of capitalism, but only that: grandstanding.
Here is how it works: you use your position in the Congress to threaten something until it fully funds your district. Then you re-authorize it.
But yikes! After spending so much time making germane and cogent arguments for getting rid of something, how do you vote it for re-authorization? Secret vote!

Our political betters will announce they got concessions, but if when you read the fine print it will be more secrecy and less oversight, because the new and better ExImBank will have more money... to cover the "anti-ExIm Bank" congressmen and senators who will get paid off.
The ExImBank is an example why the USA will end. Until the USA ends, ExImbank will survive.
Democracy cannot deal with chaos such as this. You can only, like GE, escape to anarchy.

It also prompted a sharp rebuke from a group opposed to the bank.Why anyone thinks democracy is a viable form of government is beyond me.
