Thiel Gets Sued

I do not care for Peter Thiel, a billionaire who made his money computerizing the intel industry.  Then he has the temerity to use his money to write a book telling us since he is rich you should believe him when he says compete on huge design.  That ticks me off.

Next, he broke up Gawker funding lawsuits he had no part in.

So when this happens, well, easy come easy go:

The lawsuit, filed and announced Monday by the Department of Labor, threatens the complete cancellation of every contract Palantir has with the federal government — a penalty worth $340 million, the lawsuit claims, which would end the company.

They'll fine him, and transfer some ex nihilo credit back to Treasury.  It would be good if they cut him off, indeed, ending intel in USA.  It's a start.

Feel free to forward this by email to three of your friends.

" ... he says compete on huge design."

I'm confused - I'm not sure what you mean. Please elaborate: Define "huge design." How is this different than regular or ordinary "compete on design"?

John, have you heard of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes? Just Google it and see this biblical mess for yourself. That's a story for teaching what entrepreneurs should NOT do - One bad decision after another.

I'm surprised this company hasn't killed anybody yet (although their chief scientist, Ian Gibbons, apparently committed suicide due to the stress of working there and with Holmes).

Elaboration:

I understand Thiel has a book which builds on the idea that business success is on a huge transformation. but there are no instances of that. Business success is one tiny iteration after another. if you are a Thiel or a Gates or a Ellison, whose "success" was selling software o the hegemon, you might think the exceptional wealth is due to one's delusional huge contribution, when in fact it is just takings from malinvestment and misallocation. Takings by the way tallied in ex nihilo credit.

Apple is authentic. It's progress was in minute details, iteration after iteration. And Jobs a genius, leaving it in hands sure to destroy Apple after he left. And scatter all that talent to the four winds, massively improving the world economy. I cannot wait for Apple's demise. I may have to design my own next computer, a slight variation on the 2008 macBook.

I like Apple and use their computers almost exclusively.

But in my opinion their current iMacs have a major design flaw: The integrated computer with monitor. I have a big 27 inch screen iMac, which I really like, but if your computer ever needs to be serviced, you have to drag the WHOLE computer, which is very heavy, in to the nearest Apple Store for service (I've had to do this twice so far for an older iMac). Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but it is a real annoyance. Keeping the monitor and computer part separate, like the Apple Mac Mini, is more convenient in my opinion (I can't be the only one thinking this). Do you know if Jobs had a part in the integrated iMac design?

I Also have a MacBook Pro notebook computer that I like and use a lot. I may just stick with their notebooks in the future, especially since they have plenty of processing power for my purposes.
