Not sure why they entitle this a "fail" compilation video, it is Russian farmers coming up with innovations. Some are not new, almost all seem very dangerous… but the irrigation device for moving water up hill is splendid… Can you spot why the water moves up hill? Not so obvious.
New products are unique, poorly constructed, costly given the result, and poor performers. But iteration makes perfect.

My take:
1. Water moving downstream drives a tube shaped water wheel connected to a shaft.
2. Water appears to be channeled to both the tube as well as to the connected wheel fans. So, tube diameter plays a crucial role in the way water flows across both the fan blades as well as through the wheel-shaped tube.
3. That shaft drives a pump that pumps the water uphill through an underground pipe.
I really enjoyed the video. There truly is no limit to one's creativity however, the inventions with sharp blades are hauntingly reminiscent of Edgar Allen Poe stories such as "The Pit and the Pendulum".
The dead giveaway was the little amount coming out of the pipe into the pond.... the river stream forces the water into the coil and up, but the water has to be above the outlet at the pond to flow ino the pond, and you can see at one point the outer ring of the cold is only about six inches above the pond outlet, enough to siphon water from the coil into the pond. Very clever, and no dount requiring many adjustments as the stream changes...
